Brisbane was home to Socceroo ledgend Jade North

In the 1990s Brisbane was home to star player and a proud Biripi man, Jade North. North was born in Taree NSW in 1982 but moved to Sunnybank, Brisbane for his high school years. During this time he played for clubs such as the Rochedale Rovers.

North went on to earn a scholarship to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra for a year before returning to Brisbane to play for the Brisbane Strikers. He would go on to become the first ever First Nations Socceroos captain in 2008.
