Competition expands and rep team returns

COMPETITION & CLUB FORMATIONS

After a revival of local competition in the late 1960s, the same clubs continued to play for the Clive Fenn and Ambulance Cups. Then in 1972 the Sunshine Coast Soccer Association admitted 3 new clubs; Redcliffe, Buderim and Maleny.

Football continued to grow in the region throughout the 1970s, with another 3 clubs joining the association in 1974 (Nambour Reds, Mapleton Rangers & Noosa River) and another 2 joining in 1976 (Coolum & National Park Rovers).

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM

In June 1977 FC Traisa (a German Amateur Club) visited Queensland and played a game against a Sunshine Coast representative team. The Sunshine Coast team lost 5-3 to FC Traisa.
